  • Do you speak English? Do you have an hour or two free weekly or biweekly? If so, you’d be a great English Language Partner! Our staff will go with you the first time you meet your new refugee friend and will complete an English assessment. We will then set you up with a simple curriculum, and you’ll be ready to go!

  • Our clients often need help navigating resources, filling in a housing application, understanding a piece of mail, creating a resume, or just knowing the steps to getting a driver’s license.  As a specialist, you do not have to make a long-term time commitment.  You are welcome to offer your skills within your availability.

  • Did you know that W.I.C. (Women, Infants, and Children) doesn’t help new moms with the costs of diapers and wipes? Crazy…we know.

Join our team to help meet this incredibly important and tangible need! You can help us by organizing diaper drives or assist in deliveries as we receive requests!

  • Would you like to organize a one-time or recurring donations drive?    One way we help our neighbors is by collecting in-kind donations such as gift cards, diapers and wipes, and more!  Welcome COS will help distribute items to refugee families in the community.  We may also contact Lutheran Family Services to identify needed items for newly arrived refugee families, and can help you organize the giving after your donation drive.

  • Do you have experience in grant writing? Or are you looking for opportunities to help from home? We are always looking for resources and partnerships to help boost our programs for our families!

  • Culinary Connections is a collaborative effort that offers opportunities for refugee women to cook meals from their home cultures to sell to the community. The meals are ordered ahead of time on our website, prepared and then distributed at the commercial kitchen at First United Methodist.

Go to our website culinaryconnections.us to purchase a meal, sign-up to receive updates, and check Culinary Connections on the Volunteer Interest Form!

  • Welcome English is a new collaborative effort designed to fill the gap in classroom-based English Language Learning for our refugee and immigrant neighbors in the city. Through supportive, community-centered classes, we aim to create a welcoming space where participants can build language skills, confidence, and connection.

The team is always looking for teachers, assistants, drivers for the students to and from class, snack time helpers, and more.

If you’re interested in volunteering with this program, email the Welcome English Team at welcome.englishcos@gmail.com.

  • Other: do you have a new idea?  Welcome COS focuses on creative ideas for refugee services. If you have an idea, contact us and let’s see if we can make it happen!
