Welcome COS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that adds to the tapestry of Colorado Springs by serving refugees with a spirit of welcome, a faith-based approach, mobilization of churches, and nimble and innovative pathways to services.  We do this by engaging the church, community partners, and individuals in Colorado Springs to welcome new neighbors and offer creative and expanded wrap-around services that will lead to deeper integration and long-term self-sufficiency.

We launched in August 2024 and are busy creating new programs to meet the identified needs in our city. We are already distributing diapers to refugee families with young children, accepting referrals for ESL/ELL, connecting refugees to existing services, and networking with other wrap-around programs in the community. Interested in helping us expand our offerings? Complete an interest form on the Get Involved page and we will get back to you!

Why Colorado Springs?

Refugees are already coming to Colorado Springs.  The US State Department resettles several hundred refugees in our city every year. Arrival and an intensive first 90 days of services and financial assistance are provided by Lutheran Family Services (LFS).  Welcome COS was created to help cover the gaps beyond 90 days, working with LFS and other community organizations to provide a range of services and a network of care.

Our Values

We believe that refugees have a right to build a safe and fulfilling life in America.  Welcome COS accomplishes this by focusing on our values:

  • Dignity of the person

  • Faith-based approach

  • Community based strategy

  • Nimble and innovative pathways

  • Church and community mobilization
